We offer several unique trail rides ranging from full day wilderness rides that traverse the canyons and ridges in the western Tetons to an elegant hour long sunset dinner ride in the foothills behind the ranch. We will pair you with one of our competent trail horses that matches your riding ability and we’ll begin each ride with some basic riding and horsemanship instruction. All of our guides are accomplished horsemen and women and are adept back country enthusiasts who take pride in assuring your comfort and safety. Our fully-guided and exclusive rides can be customized to accommodate your needs. There are a multitude of trail ride destinations in the greater Teton and Jackson Hole area and we are happy to discuss the perfect one with you. Our specialty is having fun out on the trail with our horses and sharing with our guests the beauty and wonder of this still-wild country.
Off-site Wilderness Rides
The day begins at the Linn Canyon Ranch where you meet your guides and horses. From the ranch we transport the horses in trailers to one of the many different trail heads on the west side of the Tetons, known as the Jedediah Smith Wilderness. It is as dramatic and pristine as any place you will find in the west. No motorized vehicles are permitted in the Wilderness. You will ride through lush canyons and along creeks. Enjoy stunning views of rugged peaks including the Grand Teton. There are several trails to chose from based on your interests and abilities. Fantastic picnic lunches are prepared at the ranch and enjoyed during the break for a picnic. Often these trips involve more that just hours of riding. We love to explore, photograph, or just enjoy the amazing places we visit.
All of our shorter rides explore the foothills of the Tetons directly behind the ranch. When you arrive at the ranch you will meet your guides and horses. We choose a horse and saddle based on your height, weight and experience. You will ride through gorgeous Aspen groves with views of the Teton Valley and Big Hole Mountains. Our guides will offer riding instruction and tips for beginning riders. The minimum age for riding is 8 years old, but younger kids can enjoy lead rides around the corral and visit all the barnyard animals. Groups are kept small and private to insure your safety and to enhance the quality of your experience.
Two Hour Ride
This ride takes you out our back gate and up into the forest adjacent to the ranch. We’ll loop through aspen groves and huckleberry patches on a moderate two hour ride.
Three Hour Lunch Ride
Like the two hour ride, we’ll ride out our back gate just a little further into the foothills to a secluded picnic spot with a fantastic view. We’ll tie up our horses and prop up our feet as we enjoy a custom picnic lunch.
Sunset Dinner Ride
Whether you are staying at Linn Canyon Ranch or just want to come for dinner, the Sunset Dinner Ride is not to be missed. Friendly, mountain horses will be waiting to take you for a leisurely ride in the foothills of the Tetons, led by one of our expert guides. Enjoy riding the trails that wind through the aspen groves, wildflowers, and lovely views of the Teton Valley. We often see elk, deer, hawks, and other wildlife on these rides. If horseback riding is not your thing, hop in our authentic covered wagon and step back in time for an equally scenic and inspiring evening. Learn More >
